Learn a quick Profit and Loss shortcut for questions involving markup and discount.

When an article is marked x% above Cost Price and a discount of y% is given, use:

Net Change % = x − y − (xy/100)

Example:

40% Markup and 10% Discount

40 − 10 − (40 × 10 / 100)
= 30 − 4
= 26% Profit

This fast calculation trick is useful for:
